Welcome to the website for the Benedictine High Schools of North America.

On behalf of our 22 schools, their administrators, faculty, staff, and students thank you for visiting our site and learning more about the Benedictine Educators Network. Most of our schools are located on the East Coast and Midwest and supported by 13 Benedictine colleges and universities in the United States and Canada (ABCU).

Abbot Elias Lorenzo OSB is the President of the network and resides at Delbarton School in Morristown, New Jersey. Abbot Elias was instrumental in the early 90s in fostering the creation of our global and regional Benedictine networks which represent schools and Abbeys across the globe. The International Commission on Benedictine Education (ICBE) has held global educator meetings in England, Germany, United States, Chile, Philippines and Australia in 2019. The regional networks, of which there are seven, who plan educational programming for educators in their area and send representatives to the international conference.

The North America network - Benetna - was formed 15 years ago to increase educational opportunities for the lay faculty and staff in our schools. With the dwindling number of men and women religious it was imperative to train and form the future leaders of our schools to carry on charisms of Saint Benedict and Saint Scholastica in our communities. Benetna has organized and hosted conferences and workshops for students, administrators, faculty and staff to enrich their understanding of The Rule written by Saint Benedict and how it applies to their daily life and their calling as Benedictine educators. Our website provides an overview of past workshops and conferences and information on upcoming events for member schools.

The first word of the Prologue of The Rule Saint Benedict is Listen … all of us who follow the charism of the Benedictines believe there is no other word more important than that in our work and ministry of education.

May you always -- Listen … with the ear of your heart!
